Geographic Centre Representatives
We encourage applications from statistics education researchers (and practitioners with an interest in research/scholarship) from all over the world, at any career stage (from undergraduate to Professor), with any level of experience, and of any demographic.
We are a non-profit academic community and all positions are voluntary.
You are invited to reach out to our Director, Jenny Terry with any queries you may have about RoSE and/or the designated contact for each role with any queries you may have about the specific roles.

CORE COMMITTEE
The Core Committee consists of the Director and Co-Directors and is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the RoSE Network, including oversight of the General Committee.
Co-Director - outreach
Overview:
The RoSE Network aims to be truly global. To achieve that, we want to proactively build connections with other statistics education networks, research groups, and individual practitioner throughout the world. Our Outreach Co-Directors will lead this endeavour by recruiting and working closely with representatives from different geographic regions to identify and develop those connections, and with our EDI Team to help remove any barriers to participation.
Key Responsibilities:
Represents outreach on the Core Committee, acting as liaison between the Network’s members, the geographic centres, and the Core Committee
Key point of contact for outreach generally, including external and internal queries
Recruitment and general management of the RoSE Geographic Centre Representatives, which aim to support and develop geographical diversity
Working closely with our EDI and other teams to ensure inclusion in RoSE events and initiatives
Other ad-hoc tasks relating to outreach strategy and management for the RoSE Network
Person Specification:
We encourage applications from statistics education researchers (and practitioners with an interest in research/scholarship) from all over the world, at any career stage (from undergraduate to Professor), and of any demographic. We do not require lots of experience, just potential and enthusiasm!

You will work alongside one other Co-Director for Outreach and will have the support of your team of Geographic Centre Leads.
Between the Outreach Co-Directors, you will be expected to:
Attend 1 x 2-hour Core Committee meeting every two months
Attend 1 x 2-hour General Committee meeting every three months
Spend an average of 1 hour per week on proactive outreach and/or related project work

Co-Director - COMMUNICATIONs
Overview:
Our Communications Team are a vital part of the RoSE team as they connect us to the statistics education community. They oversee our website, newsletter, and social media, and have the scope to develop new communications offerings, such as our upcoming blog.
Key Responsibilities:
Represents communications on the Core Committee, acting as liaison between the Network’s members, the communications team, and the Core Committee
Oversees the RoSE Communications Team, which run our website, social media, newsletter, and other forms of external communication as required
Ensuring content produced by the team is clearly written, accessible and inclusive, released on schedule, and uses our in-house style
Key point of contact for communications, including external and internal queries
Other ad-hoc tasks relating to communications, including marketing strategy and management, for the RoSE Network
Person Specification:

Co-Director - FINANCE
Overview:
The RoSE Network has so far been entirely unfunded. We'd like to change this, so that we're able to provide assistance where required for accessibility and inclusion (e.g., internet access in remote areas), to develop our infrastructure (e.g., our website and newsletter), and to award prizes and funding for statistics education research and scholarship. The Finance Co-Directors will work to identify, set-up, and manage sources of funding (e.g., a pay-as-you-feel model for our conference, a Patreon-style subscription, merchandise, grants) and look after our accounts (e.g., via a third party management company).
Key Responsibilities:
Represents financial matters, including accounting, fundraising, and financial strategy on the Core Committee, acting as liaison between the Network’s members, the Fundraising Team, and the Core Committee
Key point of contact for financial matters, including external and internal queries
Oversees the RoSE Fundraising Team, which will be tasked with identifying and applying for sources of funding
Other ad-hoc tasks relating financial strategy and management for the RoSE Network

GENERAL COMMITTEE
The General Committee consists of various teams that support the Core Committee in the running of the RoSE Network.
SIG LEADS
Overview:
Our series of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are at the core of the RoSE Network. Each relates to a specific area of statistics education research and practice, and they host regular events and initiatives where members can share, discuss, and collaborate on new developments in their topic of interest. These range from informal networking sessions, reading groups, and webinars, to community support and research projects. The role of the SIG Leads is to facilitate these events and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
2-3 leads for each SIG should work together to take responsibility for their (existing or new) SIG, working closely with the Research Co-Directors
SIGs can be thought of as mini-labs and should aim to:
Meet regularly (flexible, but aim for a minimum of one meeting/event every other month)
Organise events such as journal discussions, external/internal speakers, hack-a-thons/research sandpits (to kick-start research projects) etc.
Promote SIG events and initiatives on the SIG Slack channel and your own networks
Liaise with the Communications Team to ensure events are advertised on our website and social media
Liaise with the EDI Team and Geographic Centre Leads to ensure events are accessible and inclusive

Person Specification:

A enthusiasm for networking and collaboration with creative ideas for events and initiatives
Capacity to co-organise regular events (note that this should be shared with SIG Leads and SIG members and need not involve you leading all the events)

EDI Team MemberS
Overview:
The primary goal of the RoSE Network is to provide everyone the same opportunities to engage in statistics education events and intiatives, regardless of personal or protected characteristics, identities, and backgrounds. To achieve this, we must work proactively to ensure our community is accessible and inclusive, regardless of personal characteristics, protected or otherwise. The EDI team are at the heart of this endeavour. Current projects include reviewing the accessibility of our website and investigating internet accessibility issues in remote regions.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for actioning RoSE EDI strategy and initiatives, working closely with the EDI Co-Directors
Working with other RoSE committee members to ensure all aspects of RoSE are equitable, diverse, and inclusive at the practical level and implementing change (e.g., making sure there are no barriers to attending events, ensuring marketing materials are accessible, advising research teams on language of demographic questions etc.)
There is scope for an individual team member to specialise in representing a particular demographic (e.g., be the EDI rep for LGBTQIA2S+, race/ethnicity, etc.), especially as the team grows and develops

geographic centre REPRESENTATIVES
Overview:
The RoSE Network aims to be truly global. As part of our Outreach Team, our Geographic Centre Leads will drive this endeavour forward by identifying and developing connections in your world regions and working with our EDI Team to identify and remove any barriers to participation.
Key Responsibilities:
Each centre should have between one and three leads that are responsible for the promotion, inclusion, and accessibility of RoSE for their world region, working closely with the Outreach Co-Directors
Working with other RoSE committee members (e.g., communications team) to promote RoSE events and initiatives worldwide, with the aim of fully diversifying the Network geographically (e.g, by connecting with local societies and research groups)
Working with other RoSE committee members (e.g., the EDI, conference, & funding teams) to remove geographical barriers to participating with RoSE events and initiatives
