Welcome to the RoSE Network blog! We’re excited to open this new hub for the global statistics education community. Our blog aims to spark conversations, share insights, and celebrate the diverse ways we contribute to advancing the field. Whether you’re a seasoned researcher, an undergraduate student, or simply curious about statistics education, we hope that this platform engages and inspires you, both in your own work and (if you’re ever interested) with us!

The diversity of our experiences therefore create many questions that this blog hopes to dive into and discuss, such as -

If these questions intrigue you, be sure to sign up to our newsletter so you don’t miss out!

WHO ARE RoSE?

We are the Researchers of Statistics Education Network, or RoSE Network for short. Founded by Jenny Terry in 2019, RoSE was a way for the often siloed researchers in statistics education to connect and support each other. Years later, our committee has expanded to almost 40 members from all over the world, all dedicated to statistics education research and scholarship.

As a Network, we host events such as our free eConference, whilst our special interest groups (SIGs) run a variety of smaller initiatives, such as reading groups, seminars, and research collaborations. For example, in line with our current focus on supporting early career researchers in statistics education, our Research and Scholarship SIG are co-developing a webinar series on how to get started in the field, with the Royal Statistics Society’s Teaching Statistics Section and CAUSE Research. And to keep all of us connected, we host a Slack channel where our committee and the wider community gather to discuss statistics teaching and research.

Within RoSE, our core values inform how we operate, how we interact within the community, how we conduct our research, how we share our resources, and what we believe should be present in our statistics classrooms. Embedded in our Code of Conduct, our practices are informed by the values of EDI (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility), Openness and Transparency, Kindness and Integrity. This means that we are committed to actions such as proactive inclusion and diversification of our committee and of those who participate in our events and initiatives, as well as the practice of transparent research practices.

You can find out more about RoSE and our diverse network of members by navigating to the pages under About Us.
